Consumer Test: “Made in America” vs “Made in China”, who won?

Consumer Test: “Made in America” vs “Made in China”, who won?

All the talk about tariffs lately has probably got you feeling a little annoyed (understatement?).

This business decided to put the argument to the test: Would consumers buy more expensive “Made in America” items versus cheaper Made in China versions.

A filtered shower head business found a US-based supplier, which cost three times the cost of their supplier in China.

They ran an A/B split test on 25K visitors to the product sales page where the only difference was a choice between a product made in China for $129 and a Made in USA product for $239 and results showed:

  • Zero customers bought the Made in USA version
  • Over 3,500 customers bought the Made in China/Asia version

You can read about the whole test here.

As US Closes Loopholes, It’s a Win for Canada

As the global trade war rages on, goods originally destined for the US are caught in tariff no-man’s-land.

However, Chinese e-commerce sellers are savvy and found a great way to ride out the current trade turbulence: enter Canada.

Sellers from China are storing their goods and US-bound goods in Canadian warehouses as we all wait for someone to blink in the trade war.

Nice win for Canadian businesses.
